Valentine’s Day is less than a month away, but it seems like Ike Rhein might not be celebrating love this year.
His new single, “Messed It Up” featuring Luh Kel, recalls a breakup that ended badly, but for some reason, he just can’t shake the feeling of regret away. Throughout the song, Rhein realizes he was trying to change for someone, but didn’t need to in the first place.
“There will always be a chance to find love or ‘the one,’ if you will,” he noted. “The hardest part is that sometimes you’ll never know if someone is right for you until you realize someone was wrong for you.”
The accompanying music video for “Messed It Up” shows Rhein and Kel emotionally belting about the heartbreak as it flashes back and forth between Rhein’s current single life and his past relationship when he proudly had a woman by his side.
While the lyrics talk about messing something big up, Rhein and Kel certainly do the opposite by giving listeners a smooth and relatable heartbreak anthem.
