A Beck is back with yet another single in what seems to be a powerhouse year for the Orlando-based singer and rapper. “You Coming Back?” dropped on May 21 and is a nostalgic, hopeful song about wanting to spend summertime with that special someone. This is the fifth single of 2021 alone for A Beck, and he has plans to keep rolling out more music throughout the summer months. “I’m actually right now on schedule to release four more singles this summer, so I’m going to try and go back to back to back with just absolute vibes of the summer,” he said.
In his own words, “You Coming Back?” is all about the “Florida vibes,” although you don’t have to grow up in Florida to relate to longing lyrics like, “I’mma be right here for you / Come all the way back home.” A Beck said he found inspiration for the summer bop in a “nostalgic feeling” he often gets about memories from after high school when he and his buddies would party on the beach all summer long. “I know what it’s like to be like, ‘Oh man, it’s almost summer. Is she gonna come back here for the summer? Are we gonna hang out this summer?’” he explained. “So that’s kinda what I orchestrated the whole thing off of.”
There are a few factors that have contributed to A Beck’s explosive productivity as of recent. He released his first single in about two years, “Euphoria,” on Oct. 2, 2020. That was followed by “Fine One,” “Better Days,” and the positive, energetic single “No Cap,” among others. A Beck took a bit of a break from releasing original work prior to “Euphoria” because he was busy creating music while signed to a record contract, but that deal eventually fell through. “Things don’t go as planned and whatever may be the case. You just move on from it,” he optimistically noted. “You know sometimes you take a shot and you miss.”
Luckily for him, he was able to keep his entire music catalog. Months into the pandemic — which like most artists, gave him extra creative time in the studio — A Beck knew the art he worked so hard to create was ready to see daylight. “It’s time to put it out. Let it be,” he said of the situation. Furthermore, he has two kids to raise, which he says has motivated him to think in more of a business mindset.
A Beck is pumped for his fans to hear his upcoming releases, which includes a “You Coming Back?” remix with a feature that includes “pretty much a legend,” according to the rapper. He also is featured on a yet-to-be-released song that is part of T-Pain’s label, Nappy Boy Entertainment. “After that, it’s just on go. Everything’s dropping. Every month is gonna be a big single,” he enthusiastically said.
And in terms of the more distant future, A Beck said his ultimate goal would be to work with T-Pain, who originally inspired him to start rapping. “Like that’s what started it and that would just be like — I don’t even care if the song never came out. It just be like a complete cycle for me,” he stated with a gleam in his eye. “I’m trying. I’m trying. I’m working there,” he said.
