A Quick Trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida

There are very few things I like more than the beach and spending time with my dad, so when he suggested a quick getaway to Florida after the semester ended, I was all for it.

Two days after graduation, my dad and I jetted out of Atlantic City International Airport and within a few hours, we were laying on the sandy shores of Fort Lauderdale. This was vacation strictly for relaxing, so for about three and a half days, my dad and I swam in the ocean and tanned under the sun (and clouds). Dad and I actually lucked out with the weather because it was supposed to be a stormy mess while we were there, but the heavy rain held off until Friday morning as we got done with a long morning swim.

The only time we actually made “plans” was for our last night when we decided to take the water taxi through the lagoons of Fort Lauderdale. The taxi escorts passengers to different stops while giving a voiced tour that pointed out extravagant houses and yachts, some of them belonging to or formerly belonging to actors, sports stars, etc. It was absolutely jaw dropping cruising by yachts that cost $2 million per square foot just for its exterior and homes that cost $60 million and were only occupied for a few weeks out of the year. Can you imagine paying $47 thousand on property taxes per month and not even living in the house full time?

The trip consisted of lounging on the beach, eating fresh seafood and enjoying ourselves. It was exactly what we needed and I am so glad I got to spend some time with my dad. I made a short video just to give a glimpse of our time in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
