My second Friday in Oz finally arrived and I was super stoked because I had a ticket to the Caversham Wildlife Park. I could not wait to see some Australian creatures!
The day started off with a farm show. We watched dogs round up sheep, we saw how a sheep’s wool is sheared and I even got to milk a cow.

After the farm show, I visited the reptile house to observe some amphibians and reptiles such as snakes, tree frogs and lizards. Below I posted a photo of a Merten’s Water Monitor and a Splendid Tree Frog.
We headed to the penguin exhibit afterwards. There were a few tiny penguins swimming around in a pool, and they were super cute. I made sure to get a picture for my sister, who loves the animals.
Along the way, we also viewed some really cool Australian birds and small mammals. Pictured from left to right is an Australian Bustard, a Common Brushtail Possum, a Blue-Winged Kookaburra and an Emu.
Then, it was time for the most important part of the trip: petting kangaroos! The park had an enclosure filled with kangaroos and wallabies. It was super cool because people could walk right into the area and get up close and personal with the adorable animals.
The last part of the wildlife park was a picture with a koala. To be honest, I did not know an animal could be so precious. I did not think it was real when I saw it from afar; Alas, it was a real, living koala that looked as sweet as a teddy bear.
It was a smoldering hot day out, but luckily the park was filled with shade-bearing trees. A day full of Australian animals—another thing checked off my list!
Great report-a fun day at a super interesting zoo!
